Trees

There is a National Park about an hour and an half away from us that was dedicated to Joyce Kilmer. The park is know for the huge trees that are there. It is one of my favorite places to go on a Sabbath afternoon hike.

This is the pome her wrote called "Trees"

Robed in His Perfection

And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we
may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. 1 John
2:28.

Jesus came into the world to save sinners, not in their sins but from
their sins, and to sanctify them through the truth; and in order that He may
become a perfect Saviour to us, we must enter into union with Him by a
personal act of faith. Christ has chosen us, we have chosen Him, and by this
choice we become united to Him and are to live from henceforth, not unto
ourselves, but unto Him who has died for us. But this union can only be
preserved by constant watchfulness, lest we fall into temptation and make a
different choice, for we are free always to take another master if we so
desire. Union with Christ means an unfailing preference for Him in every act
and thought. . . .

We are to consider ourselves as constituting the family of Christ, and
we are to follow Him as dear children. Adopted into the household of God,
shall we not honor our Father and our kindred? . . .

We must establish an unyielding enmity between our souls and our foe,
but we must open our hearts to the power and influence of the Holy Spirit.
We want Satan's darkness to be shut out and the light of Heaven to flow in.
We want to become so sensitive to holy influences that the lightest whisper
of Jesus will move our souls. . . . Then we shall delight to do the will of
God, and Christ can own us before the Father and before the holy angels as
those who abide in Him. . . .

But we shall not boast of our holiness. As we have clearer views of
Christ's spotless and infinite purity we shall feel as did Daniel when he
beheld the glory of the Lord and said, "My comeliness was turned in me into
corruption" (Dan. 10:8). We cannot say, "I am sinless" till this vile body
is changed and fashioned like unto His glorious body. But if we constantly
seek to follow Jesus, the blessed hope is ours of standing before the throne
of God without spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing, complete in Christ,
robed in His righteousness and perfection.

Court House Log Cabin

Here is the second quilt that I made. The style is a Log Cabin pattern, but the name is Court House Log Cabin.

The reason why I guess is when you are done with a block it looks like steps that you might see on an old court house.

Log cabin quilts are very simple to do; they can be very confusing though. If you have any scrap material a log cabin quilt would be great to use it for. I have plans on making another log cabin quilt when I have the time.

Sunflowers

Have you ever noticed that a sunflower is always facing the sun? Well I never did until I drove through hundreds of them. They were every where, and everyone of them was facing the sun. As I drove, I thought at how they got their name.It must be because they are always facing the sun. Ok. Then I thought how christians got their name. Was it because christians are to always be facing Christ, their life giver. I thought about this for awail, do I look to Christ always? A sunflower cannot live with out the sun, neith can any thing else. Well niether can a christian live without Christ. For Christ say's "...I am the way, the truth , and the life...".

Christians are called christians because they are to alwsys look to Christ and be a light unto the world as Jesus was. And we are to be like him. Am I a light to the world?

Hewn from Stone

I stared at this magnificent shrine hewn from stone,
and thought of how each man, at one time, had stood alone.

There was a feeling of pride within me, a sense of humility
too; pride in the founders of our country, but I wondered
what I could do.

So I lifted my eyes upward, unto the highest hill, and
prayed that I might also, be able to do God’s will.

Evolution

A little girl asked her mother, 'How did the human race appear?'
The mother answered, 'God made Adam and Eve and they had children and so
all mankind was made.'
Two days later the girl asked her father the same question.
The father answered, 'Many years ago there were monkeys from which the
human race evolved.'
The confused girl returned to her mother and said, 'Mom, how is it
possible that you told me the human race was created by God, and Dad said
they developed from monkeys?'
The mother answered, 'Well, dear, it is very simple. I told you about my
side of the family and your father told you about his.'

Summer Days

I love days like this. The flowers are all gone but I found a weed that had a flower on top that looks like a heart.

I hope you are having a great day in your neighborhood.
